The Demon road is long... with many a winding turn... he ain’t heavy... Oops sorry, just singing along with the Hollies there. Hey, don’t look at me like that, I didn’t choose the radio station, but maybe it chose us because there are a lot of bends in this country road and here comes another one right now. A right hand bend this time. Keep well to the left of the road as you approach it so you can expand your sightline of the road beyond the bend.
The types of hazards found in the towns can also be found in the country but with a difference. For example, in the town a slow driver may come in the guise of an elderly driver who's reactions have dulled, or a learner driver still uncertain of himself (which he will spend the next ten years making up for), the country cousin equivalent of a slow driver may be a tractor or a mounted horse (we will probably encounter all of these slow movers at some point in our journey). Blind bends also have their town/country cousins, we have already encountered blind junctions in the town and now here they are again but instead of manmade buildings blocking our view it is high hedgerows and trees.
Take note, there are very few pavements on a country road which means, as that sign on the right is warning, if there are any pedestrians around then they will be walking directly in the road which makes it especially important for us to use the full width of the road to get the best view possible around the bend.
Do you see that red glow coming into view? Looks like a whole group of pedestrians in the road with the lead person carrying a red light. This is what organised groups of walkers carry (remember this) Maybe they are going to the red light district... I made a little joke there but you're not laughing... lets move on... http://twitter.com/theorytestnovel www.facebook.com/TheoryTestNovel
